Townsend Broadwater Lions Charter Night 8/14/2019

presentWhere you in 1982?!

The advances in technology that began in previous years continue to gain speed in 1982 with the release of the Commodore 64 computer and the first CD player by Sony. The shift is so significant that Time Magazine names The Computer as the person of year in 1982. Other big news items include the opening of Epcot Center, the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, the Tylenol scare, the death of John Belushi, and the birth of Prince William. It was a great year in movies with ET, Fast Times, the Wall all at the box office. Olivia Newton John had us getting physical and Joan Jett had us loving rock n’ roll. But, Michael Jackson ruled the music scene and the airwaves with Thriller, which became the best selling album of all in time. 1982.

A group of service minded people  in Broadwater County, Montana were busy chartering a new Lions Club that would become known as the Townsend/Broadwater Lions Club.

Currently this club consisting of 24 members, meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month at the Mint Café; located at, 305 Broadway in Townsend, Montana.

They will be hosting their annual charter night on August 14th at 6:00 p.m.. The cost of a meal is $18.00 for either fried chicken or barbeque. The guest speaker will be our own District Governor, Verna Love.

Please feel welcome to come out and celebrate this monumental event. You may contact Regional Chair Gary Olson for more details by calling, (406) 266-3862; (406)980-2013 or emailing gojo65oly@gmail.com

This club has done some amazing service projects throughout its existence as a club. Most recently in May, they hosted our current International President Dr. Jung-Yul Choi at a moment’s notice for lunch. The experience was quite impressive, as we had a chance visit with an author from Australia, of a book that is being circulated among grade school children within the Townsend school district teaching life skills.
